Monitoring desk: US Department of State has issued travel warning advising its citizens to avoid nonessential travel to Nepal.

The warning indicates possibility for aftershocks of significant magnitude persists. Further, it points out that “Infrastructure is fragile and access to basic resources, including healthcare, could be limited. Cell phone and internet service are intermittent. In Kathmandu and elsewhere, some buildings are collapsed and some roads are impassable, making transportation difficult.”

In order to provide updates on the situation in Nepal, the State Department is maintaining a Nepal Earthquake crisis page.
