Uber ready to services in Pakistan

Lahore, Pakistan: Lahore is becoming the most modern city in Pakistan regarding availability of world class public transportation for travelers and tourists.

Provincial capital of Punjab metropolitan city of Lahore got its first mass transport system that was Lahore metro bus service around three year ago that is being used over 300,000 passengers daily and now US-based Online Taxi Service ‘Uber’ will soon be launched in Lahore.

However, Uber is some week late as Turkish Albayrak Group’s ‘A-Taxi’ service was introduced by government of Punjab and the popular car booking service ‘Careem’. However, travel experts believe that there is no match of services Uber is providing around the world with services of any other taxi provider and Uber will capture the if it will provide same services in a city of over 12 million of people— Lahore.

Moreover, construction work of first mass transit train of Pakistan is also underway in Lahore.

According to information available with Dispatch News desk (DND) news agency, Uber will operate in Lahore soon but later it will be expanded to other cities of Pakistan.

With its headquarter in San Francisco, Uber taxi service is currently available in 58 countries and 300 cities around the world and Lahore will be soon a part of this list of tourism destinations having mass transit train and Uber while metro bus service is already operational in the city.

It may be mentioned that Uber offers a smartphone app to consumers through which they can request taxi-like pickup and drop service. Customers, after placing a request for service, can view the time a car might take to reach him/her.

“With the arrival of Uber in Pakistan, people will have more transportation facilities with reliability and safety.

Since the Punjab government has initiated the construction of Orange Line Metro train in Lahore following the successful launch of Metro Bus service, the world renowned Cab Services like Uber will further offer commuters relaxed and hassle-free travel option especially to people in the provincial capital. Punjab government is encouraging international companies to come and invest in travel and transportation sector as its agenda to improve the image of Pakistan aboard”, commented former Consultant of Tourism to the government of Pakistan Agha Iqrar Haroon when he was asked to comment about new taxi service.
