Istanbul: After the protests ended, hotels began operating normally in Istanbul, the Turkish Tourism Association told media on Monday. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The Turkish Tourism Association said that there was a decrease in the number of tourists in different hotels in Istanbul during the protests, but at present, the influx of tourists to these hotels is being stabilised.

The association also reported that more than three million foreign tourists visited Istanbul during the past five months. Earlier, it was reported that about 30 per cent of foreign tourists cancelled their booking at hotels in Istanbul. It was also reported that the cancelled reservations are expected to increase at hotels located near Taksim Square.

The protests against the reconstruction of the Gezi Park on Taksim Square in Istanbul lasted more than 10 days. Protesters also clashed with the police on Kızılay square in Ankara.
