Turkish premier reaches Pakistan to boost economic cooperation

LAHORE: Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday arrived in Lahore on a two-day official visit on the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, aiming to boost trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif‚ Speaker Punjab Assembly and provincial ministers welcomed the distinguished guest at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore. A twenty-one gun salute was also presented to the Turkish Prime Minister.

Recip Tayyab Erdogan is leading a delegation comprising ministers‚ businessmen and entrepreneurs to explore the investment avenues in diverse fields in Pakistan.

The Turkish Prime Minister will hold talks with President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif‚ besides attending Pakistan-Turkey Business Forum 2013 in Lahore.

Pakistan and Turkey are expected to sign a number of agreements on coal power projects‚ construction of dams and energy during the visit of Recip Tayyab Erdogan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will host a dinner in honour of the distinguished guests.

The Turkish Prime Minister will also visit Badshahi Mosque and lay a floral wreath at the grave of philosopher poet Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
