Torrential rains, floods in Pakistan on August 13, 2013: Flood warning for whole country

Islamabad:  Flash Flood  Potential Rains  in vulnerable Districts of Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore Divisions & Kashmir on Monday and Tuesday, and in D.G Khan, D.I.Khan, Zhob, Sibbi and Naseerabad Divisions on Tuesday and Wednesday are indicated by Met office of Pakistan.

Met Office informed that Monsoon has entered in its active phase on Monday, producing widespread rains with scattered heavy falls in the country during the week. Heavy at times very heavy rains are expected in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), NE Balochistan and Kashmir during Monday to Wednesday that may generate Urban & Flash Flooding in the vulnerable areas.

Met Office informed that a low pressure area was developed over central parts of India (North Madhya Pradesh) which has to moved northwest ward in last 24 hrs, and then it may persist over North India (adjoining areas of northwest Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan & southwest Uttar Pradesh) during next 3-4 days.

Under the influence of this low pressure area strong to very strong monsoon current has penetrated in NE Pakistan (Upper Punjab & Kashmir) during the week.  Due to the interaction of Monsoon Currents and Cold Air over northern parts of the country, widespread heavy to very heavy rains have started over Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions), Upper KPK (Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar & Kohat Divisions) and Kashmir. Scattered heavy rains are also expected in central parts of the country (D.G.Khan, D.I.Khan, Zhob, Sibbi & Naseerabad Divisions) during the period.

All concerned authorities are advised to remain ALERT during the week, particularly from Monday to Wednesday.
