Tajikistan, Turkmenistan to speedup construction of gas pipeline linking Turkmenistan to China

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan: Tajikistan and Turkmenistan have decided to enhance bilateral relations and ensure construction of gas pipeline linking Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Tajikistan – Kyrgyzstan and China.

During his meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow here at Ashgabat on August 20, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon concluded five new agreements on cooperation between the two countries. They also discussed railway track that will connect Turkmenistan with Afghanistan and link Tajikistan.

According to press service of the Turkmen President, both presidents underlined the importance of cooperation in energy and transport sector, including construction of a gas pipeline Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Tajikistan – Kyrgyzstan – China and a railway Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Tajikistan.

Following the talks, both sides are expected ensure increasing Import and exports by 16.6%.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon arrived in Ashgabat last evening and a high powered delegation of Tajikistan is accompanying the president that includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Aslov, Assistant to the President for External Affairs Erkinkhon Rakhmatullozoda, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Nematullo Khikmatullozoda, Minister of Energy and Water Resources Usmonali Usmonzoda, Minister of Health and Social Protection Nusratullo Salimzoda and Chairman of the Committee on Television and Radio Makhmad Saaid Pirzoda.
