Sofia:  Sofia Airport has found involved in unfair competition by charging below-cost prices for servicing aircraft, said  in a statement issued by Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) on July 23, 2013.

According to Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) of Bulgaria that it found Sofia Airport was engaging in unfair competition by charging below-cost prices for servicing aircraft. CPC said that Sofia Airport was sacrificing all profit and even lost money from aircraft servicing. That could lead to an unjustified increase in price and limitations on the quality of the service offered.  CPC has not imposed a fine but has given Sofia Airport 45 days to answer the charges laid out against the company.

The regulator said that Sofia Airport dominated the market for aircraft services and was abusing that position by charging “unjustifiably low” prices.

“A review showed that since the beginning of 2011 and until now, the effective price offered by Sofia Airport to airlines does not cover costs in the long term, and there is a trend for continued decrease and overall reductions in the price,” the regulator said in a statement.
