GENEVA: A large number of Sikhs staged a demonstration outside the United Nations office in Geneva, seeking a UN probe into the killing of thousands of Sikhs in various parts of India in November 1984, Dispatch News Desk reported.

It was a systematic and deliberate attempt to kill a religious minority in India after Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her two Sikh bodyguards, Policy Director at Sikhs For Justice Jatinder Singh Grewal said.

Grewal said the government was also involved in the deadly wave of violence against their community. He said they are demanding the UN to investigate the killing of Sikhs in 1984 as they believe the truth has not been told to the world.
