TOKYO: A powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck off southern Japan on Wednesday, though no injuries, damage or tsunami warnings have been reported yet.

According to Dispatch News Desk reports, the tremors were felt in the capital Tokyo and along the east coast of Japan.

The earthquake was measured 400 km (250 miles) below the earth’s surface, according to the public broadcaster NHK.
