UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Masood Khan has said that Pakistan wants an end to US drone strikes on its soil to stop further casualties and sufferings, Dispatch News Desk reported.

“The use of armed drones in the border areas is a continued violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty‚ international law and human rights,” Khan told the General Assembly’s sixth legal committee.

Khan emphasized that the war against terrorism must be waged within the framework of international law.

“The use of drones resulted in casualties of innocent men‚ women and children leading to disaffection‚ alienation‚ and psycho-social trauma among the affected population centers,” the ambassador said while speaking in a debate on terrorism.

The ambassador said that these strikes are also detrimental to Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate extremism and terrorism.
