Pakistan, Russia hold fifth meeting on counter-terrorism

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group on Counter-terrorism held its fifth round of bilateral consultations in Islamabad on Tuesday, during which the two sides agreed to promote bilateral cooperation to counter threats to national and regional security.

The acting secretary of interior minister Imtiaz Tajwar led the Pakistani delegation, while the Russian side was led by special representative of the rresident of the Russian federation for international cooperation Alexander V. Zmeyevskiy.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation in countering drugs trafficking‚ anti-money laundering and combating organized crime. They also reviewed the cooperation on relevant issues at the regional and international forum.

Both the sides agreed to promote bilateral cooperation and sharing of information to effectively counter threats to national and regional security.
