Manchester: Figures released today have revealed that Manchester Airport saw 2.1 million passengers in June 2013 – a rise of 4.1% year-on-year. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The figures mark the thirteenth consecutive month of growth for the airport. The airport’s owners, Manchester Airport Group (MAG), which also owns Stansted, East Midlands and Bournemouth, commented that the airport was averaging a 3.2% growth – above the national average.

Ken O’Toole, chief commercial officer said: “We’ve seen over a year of continued month-on-month growth now and the next few months will provide an additional boost as over 14m passengers are expected to use Manchester Airport during the summer. We’re entering the full swing of the summer season and are expecting a further surge in passengers once the schools break up as millions of people fly away for a well-deserved break.”

International scheduled flights were up 9.4% year-on-year with new services being added to Cairo and Lisbon with EgyptAir and TAP Portugal respectively.
