TEHRAN: Iran on Tuesday reiterated its opposition to the possession of nuclear weapons based on the beliefs of the Iranian nation, Dispatch News Desk reported.

“We are against nuclear weapons not because of the US or other countries, but because of our beliefs,” leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in a meeting with the commanders and officials of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday.

“And when we say no one should have nuclear weapons, we definitely do not pursue it ourselves either,” Khamenei said.

Khamenei noted that Iran’s opponents pursue other motives in the dispute over Iran’s nuclear energy program.
