Hagel unveils plan to reduce US army size

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel has unveiled plan to reduce the US army to its smallest size since before World War II; however the plan requires approval from the Congress.

In his address to a press conference at Pentagon‚ Hagel announced his plan to further reduce the size of the active-duty US army from its current 522,000 soldiers to between 440,000 and 450,000.
