According to details, FBS officials in Chelyabinsk region and the Ural Customs Administration found a T-34-85 tank during inspection of a train in the Russian city of Kartaly, heading across the Russian-Kazakh border.

This tank has a big cultural value for Russia as it was built in mid-1940s. FBS officials asked for document for exporting the tank to Kazakhstan and it was found that the tank was transferring to Kazkshtan without any document. A criminal probe was launched into an attempted smuggling of cultural values, since the tank shipped to Kazakhstan was made in mid-1940s. The tank was checked by experts who found out that the tank’s armor was out of combat order. The tank’s cost is estimated at nearly $32,000.

“The Soviet medium-sized tank T-34-85 was taken into service by the Red Army on January 23, 1944 and was the final T-34 modification,” specified the press service of FSB on August 5.
