Four killed, 67 injured as train derails in New York

NEW YORK: At least four persons were killed while 67 others sustained injuries when a train derailed and plunged into a ravine in the Bronx area of New York City, Dispatch News Desk reported.

The incident took place near Spuyten Duyvil station just north of Manhattan, while all seven of the train’s cars came off the tracks and the front carriage came to rest only a few feet from the river.

The officials said that in the incident, four persons lost their live and 67 others injured, adding that 11 of the injured were in critical condition.

The rescue operation had begun as up to 135 firefighters were at the scene using air cushions to stabilize the wagons.
