Former US Army officer sentenced to death for mass shooting at a military base

TEXAS: A former US Army officer was sentenced to death on Wednesday by a military jury for the killing of 13 people in a mass shooting at a military base in Texas in 2009, Dispatch News Desk reported.

The 42-year-old Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was convicted last week for an attack on Fort Hood Texas Army post on November 5, 2009, which left 13 people killed and more than 30 injured.

Robert Bales, another former US soldier, sentenced to life in prison last week for a similar incident in Afghanistan.
