Explosions in China’s Xinjiang region leave 31 dead

BEIJING: At least 31 persons were killed and more than 90 others injured when explosions occurred at a market in Urumqi, the capital of the restive Chinese region of Xinjiang, on Thursday.

The media reports said that two off-road vehicles ploughed into people in the market in Urumqi and explosives were thrown out of them.

In a statement, the Xinjiang regional government termed it a serious violent terrorist incident.
