Blast injures 59 at Japanese summer fireworks festival

KYOTO, Japan: At least 59 persons were injured after a blast went off at a summer fireworks festival in the Japanese city of Kyoto on Thursday evening, Dispatch News Desk reported.

The explosion took place just before the start of the fireworks display, at the main viewing venue on the Yura River in Fukuchiyama, across from the launch site.

According to reports, five people were in an especially serious condition, including a 10-year-old boy.
