82% Kazakhs are certain to poll votes in Presidential election

ipsos-logoMonitoring Desk: As many as 82% Kazakhs are certain to poll votes in forthcoming Presidential election scheduled to be held on April 26.

According to an Ipsos MORI poll commissioned by the Eurasian Council on Foreign Affairs (ECFA), the majority of Kazakh adults are positive about quality of life in their country and 89% respondents of survey believe that the country is moving in the right direction.

The survey report released by ECFA on its website claims that total of 93% respondents feel ‘fairly’ or ‘very’ positive about their country.

“Looking at current political events, 79% agreed that Kazakhstan is ready to hold the upcoming Presidential Election on the 26th April. The majority of respondents (82%) stated they were ‘certain’ or ‘very likely’ to vote in the coming election”, said survey report.

It may be mentioned that the Eurasian Council on Foreign Affairs (ECFA) is a recently established Brussels-based think tank dedicated to providing a forum for engagement between Central Asia and the European Union. ECFA seeks to contribute to the European policy debate by regularly publishing analytical papers addressing a wide variety of topics such as regional policy and economic and cultural developments.

The Research was carried out using a Face-to-face pen & paper methodology across a nationally representative sample of 1,000 respondents in Kazakhstan aged 18 and over. The fieldwork was carried out between 16th March to the 3rd April 2015.
