JAKARTA: At least 14 persons including four high school students were killed when Indonesia’s Mount Sinabung volcano on the western island of Sumatra erupted on Saturday.

The officials said that persons were killed in Sukameriah village near Mount Sinabung after they were engulfed by scorching ash clouds.

“We suspect there are more victims but we cannot recover them because the victims are in the path of the hot (ash) clouds,” Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency said.
