14 killed in blast outside Quetta madrassa

QUETTA: At least forty persons were killed while thirty seven others sustained injuries when a power bomb went off outside a Madrassa in the Satellite Town, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 7 June, 2012.

The bomb was detonated outside Madrassa Jamia Islamia Muftaul Uloom soon after the Dastaar Bandi of students, who had completed religious education.

Official sources told Dispatch News Desk (DND) that bomb was strapped to a bicycle, which had been parked outside the religious school. The explosion took place at around 3:05pm as soon as the students and others started coming out of the seminary after the congregation.

“It was a remote controlled bomb, which was tied to a bicycle,” said DIG Police Qazi Wahid.
