NEW YORK: Representatives from China‚ Brazil and Venezuela have strongly criticized the use of drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen and other countries in front of the United Nations; however the US said that the deployment of unmanned aerial attacks against al Qaeda targets was necessary‚ legal and just, Dispatch News Desk reported.
At a plenary meeting of the general assembly in the UN building in New York ‚ China termed the drone attacks as blank space in international law and said the sovereignty of all states should be respected.
Venezuela called drones flagrantly illegal and said these have claimed the lives of many innocent civilians, while the representative of Brazil was also critical of the loss of innocent lives in the drone attacks.
However, the US delegation defended the use of drone attacks saying the deployment of unmanned aerial attacks against al Qaeda targets was necessary‚ legal and just.
