From PISS to RANDI— Pakistan have interesting strategic think tanks
Islamabad, Pakistan: The former federal minister of Pakistan Mushahid Hussian Syed is a personal friend of Dr. Shireen Mazari of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) and both are strategic writers.
Mazari headed Pakistan Institute of Strategic Studies (PISS that has virtual meanings of urination) while Mushahid Hussian Syed has come out with “Research and Development International (RANDI—virtual meaning in Urdu and Hindi as Prostitute).
Indian strategic experts and journalists are enjoying and laughing while using word RANDI for Pakistan and China strategic think tank since yesterday. Indian media had been claiming that PISS was allegedly sponsored by prime intelligence agencies of Pakistan to contest strategic writ of India and United States while RANDI will focus on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor research and development.
According to the Islamabad office of Pakistan China Institute, RANDI will have two co-chairpersons; Madame Zhao Baige, (former minister, member of Chinese parliament), and Senator Mushahid Hussain, vice chairperson of Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress.
According to Mushahd Hussian Syed, RANDI will provide an ‘Information Corridor’ to create and exchange information among policy-makers, students, specialists, scholars and enterprises in both countries. The RANDI Pakistan secretariat will be based at Islamabad’s Pakistan-China Institute, and the China secretariat will be shared by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the China Institute of Reform & Development (CIRD).
