Agha Iqrar Haroon becomes part of AEN Board

 

Agha Iqrar Haroon becomes part of AEN BoardIslamabad, Pakistan: Senior journalist and former Consultant to Federal Ministry of Tourism (now Ministry of Cultural and Heritage) Agha Iqrar Haroon has been appointed Board member of Asian Ecotourism Network.

Mr. Haroon is the first Pakistani to include in the Board as member. This is an honorary position and Mr. Haroon has been granted the position for his services to promote sustainable tourism at global level. He is also honorary President of The Region Initiative (TRI) that is a body of tourism stakeholders of South Asia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.

Based in Bangkok, Thailand, the Asian Ecotourism Network (AEN) is the only official body of sustainable, responsible and ecotourism in the region of Asia.

The Asian Ecotourism Network strives to connect those working in ecotourism in regions across Asia by creating opportunities for them to work together.

Talking to Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency, Haroon said that he is obliged to AEN Board for including him in Board and said that it was privilege for his country that someone is a part of the only body of Asia seeking for responsible tourism in the region.

Other Board members include Soulinnara Ratanavong (LAOS), Alan Wong (CHINA), Mihee Kang (SOUTH KOREA), Monzurul Huq (BANGLADESH), Tony Charters (AUSTRALIA), Susan Santos de Cárdenas (PHILIPPINES), Gana Damba (MONGOLIA), Ary Suhandi (INDONESIA), Karma Tshering (BHUTAN), Sanath Weerasuriya, (SRI LANKA), Gopinath Parayil (INDIA), Bijaya Pradhan (NEPAL), Victor Yu, President, Ecotourism (TAIWAN) AND Gracie Geikie (MALAYSIA)
