KARACHI: Following a heavy exchange of fire between the security forces and the militants at the Airport Security Force (ASF) academy near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, the attackers managed to flee while security sweep and search operation was underway.

Earlier, a group of militants attacked a camp of the ASF academy which is situated in Bhitai Abad, Pehlwan Goth.
Omar Khorasani, the personal secretary of Omar Khalid Khorasani who is the leader of the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Mohmand faction, wrote on his twitter account that the group carried out this second attack.
A spokesperson of the civil aviation authority said that all kind of operations including flight operation were suspended at the airport till further orders.
The army troops, police and rangers personnel also reached at the spot while the Director General Pakistan Rangers Sindh Major General Rizwan Akhter was also present there to monitor the situation.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed the law enforcement agencies to wipe out and track down all terrorists, who attacked the ASF camp near Karachi airport.
