ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Endowment Fund has set up for families of deceased journalists with seed money of three hundred thousands US dollars.
This was announced by Chairman Media Town Housing society Rawalpindi and veteran leader of journalist community of Pakistan Farooq Faisal Khan.
“We are achieving the self- reliance, the “Endowment Fund” initially started from Rs. 30 million, contributed by senior journalists, said Farooq Faisal Khan while addressing flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of 70 Independence Day of Pakistan organized by National Press Club (NPC).
Farooq Faisal said the endowment fund consist on trust comprises on senior journalists, Nasir Zaidi, Hamid Mir, Zafar Malik, Muhammad Afzal Butt, Tariq Chaudhary, Khalid Azeem, Maira Imran and President NPC, Shakeel Anjum to hold the positioning fund till his tenor as President NPC.
He said the endowment fund would support the orphans and widows of the of journalist families to provide them different health and education facilities in this regard.
On the occasion, he also announced Media Town Phase –II on which negotiation was completed with Punjab government and Rs. 1 billion guarantee to pay by the Media Town Society. He added that in this regards initial process including all legal matter has completed with Punjab government. While Farooq Faisal also announced the Community School System (CSS) for journalist children in twins city of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, adding that CSS School to inaugurated in coming month and braches to be open in both cities within coming two years.
He also announced the dispensary in media town, which soon to be converted in hospital inaugurated in next month’s of September 2015.
While addressing on the occasion, President NPC, Shakeel Anjum appreciated the endowment fund and other welfare projects announced by Farooq Faisal Khan, said that this was result of the unity and effort of the leaders like Farooq Faisal and Afzal Butt. He said that self reliance to be best policy of enhance the capacity to support the journalist families and enhance the resources in this regards.
