Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On awarding 154-th separate commandant regiment honorary title.” The regiment traces roots to the late XVII century, when Tsar Peter I formed them from the so-called play-in the suburban villages of Transfiguration and Semenov. Regiments participated in the wars with Sweden, Turkey, the World and the First World War.

In 1917. Preobrazhensky actively participated in the February revolution that did not save them from dissolution after the Bolsheviks came to power. The White Army attempted to revive the regiment, and its last troops left Russia in 1920
