Warsaw: Explosion of gas pipeline in a Jankow Przygodzki area of Poland resulted widespread fire in the area, killing two people and injuring at least 13. Fire is yet to be controlled.
Gas pipeline rupture took place in the western village of Jankow Przygodzki.
Malgorzata Polkowska, a spokeswoman for the Gaz-System S.A. pipeline operator, called it “a very large-scale tragedy” and said it was the first such accident since the company was founded in 2004.
A special commission will determine the cause of the explosion.
According to Polish television TVN24, yellow flames and black smoke engulfing entire area.
Andrzej Borowiak, a spokesman for the Poznan police said that 13 people were injured but could not confirm a report by the firefighters’ spokesman, Pawel Fratczak, that two people were missing.
