Uzbekistan Presidential elections 2015: Candidates start campaigns by meeting people.
Candidates of Presidential elections of Uzbekistan have geared up their election campaigns for March 29, 2015 balloting for new President for next 5 year term.
Candidates are visiting different regions, districts and provinces to address public meetings.
According to Article 28 of the Law “On Elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan” the election campaign starts from the date of registration by the Central Election Commission of the candidates for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan has confirmed candidacy of Khotamjon Abdurakhmonovich Ketmonov, Akmal Kholmatovich Saidov, Narimon Madjitovich Umarov and current President Islam Abduganievich Karimov,
According to a press service of election Commission of Uzbekistan, candidates for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan have registered from the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan ( Khotamjon Abdurakhmonovich Ketmonov), the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Milly Tiklanish” (Akmal Kholmatovich Saidov), the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – Liberal-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (Islam Abduganievich Karimov) and the Social-democratic party “Adolat” (Narimon Madjitovich Umarov).
The election rules of Uzbekistan provide equal right to all candidates for pre-election campaigning on state television and radio channels and every candidate is given 900 minutes of free airtime to share his vision with people. Candidates can also do campaign in print media and newspapers including Halk Suzi and The Truth of the Orient also provide up to 10 free pages for campaigning of each presidential candidate.
The candidates are free to determine the types, forms, methods and content of the materials of the pre-election drive in the media.
Information services of different political parties when contacted said that their candidates are traveling to different regions to meet with voters, where they present their pre-election programs.
The election program of current President Karimov is focused on modernization of economy, the construction of new industrial enterprises, further development of small business and private entrepreneurship.
Political observers believe that Karimov’s election campaign is based on his future plans include broad-based economical uplifts, the realization of structural reforms in agriculture, strengthening food security, furthering the introduction of localization programs, the improvement of the investment climate, and ensuring the employment.
While main points of Akmal Saidov, from the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milly Tiklanish (National Revival) include conservation and enrichment of historical, cultural and intellectual heritage of the Uzbek people, its traditions and values, ensuring food security, the support for housing construction and infrastructure.
Narimon Umarov is stressing the importance of effective cooperation between the authorities and society, an open dialogue between citizens and officials at all levels, further strengthening of independence and freedom of the media and increasing of its activity in the open coverage of socio-political and economic reforms.
The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party Hotamjon Ketmonov is focusing participation of civil society institutions in open discussion of laws, the development of social partnership institutions, expansion of judicial mechanisms for the protection of citizen’s rights, increasing employment opportunities, expansion of rural health centers and strengthening of the state control over the medicine pricing, the activity of pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies are also included in the campaign.
Development Observers are of the view continuity of leadership in Uzbekistan by electing Karimov will help this landlocked central Asian country to reach economical prosperity and expansion of industry as a large number of international firms are interesting to invest in Uzbekistan just due its stable political culture and strong leadership of Karimov.
