Kazakhstan and Russia strategic partners, says Putin
Astana, Kazakhstan: Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that interregional cooperation is the key of development in former soviet republics.
Putin expressed these views while meeting with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at Akorda presidential residence in Astana on Wednesday.
Putin is in Astana to attend 13th Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum.
“The Head of State lauded the importance of the Interregional Cooperation Forum that brought together 900 businessmen from Kazakhstan and Russia”, said an official statement.
According to information released by the office of the President of Kazakhstan, Forum will result signing of 40 bilateral agreements worth $27 billion.
Russian President Putin said that Kazakhstan and Russia strategic partners. It may be mentioned that 400 businessmen from Russia are attending Forum.
“This is a big delegation. They are mainly involved in SME. They work directly with Kazakhstan”, said Putin.
He also noted that the theme of the forum – development of transport and logistics infrastructure – is of paramount importance for the development of economy. “Let’s not forget that 70% of our two-way trade falls at interregional cooperation. I am confident that those projects that are planned today will be very useful,” Putin added.
The 13th Interregional Cooperation Forum of Kazakhstan and Russia is underway at the Palace of Independence in Astana. Participants are expected to discuss the development of cooperation in tourism sector, transport and logistics potential of the two countries, elimination of barriers and limitations in economic cooperation and many other topics.
“After the Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum, Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbayev watched new Russian-Kazakh film “Panfilov’s Twenty-Eight Guardsmen”, directed by Andrei Shalopa”, said Presidential office of Russia in a statement.
