HIV at rise in Kyrgyzstan as 6,095 tested HIV positive in Kyrgyzstan by July 1
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan: HIV is rising in central Asian republic of Kyrgyzstan and 6,095 HIV-positive persons have been registered in Kyrgyzstan by July 1, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan said.
Intravenous drug users make 53% of all people with HIV.
This figure includes 5,822 citizens of Kyrgyzstan, 535 are children and 764 are people with AIDS among them.
317 people were tested HIV positive for 6 months of 2015 versus 316 in 2014.
1,205 people with HIV died for these years. According to varying reports, around 9,000-9,500 people with HIV live in the country. Experts believe that major reasons of rise in HIV are free sex and rise of drug usage among both sexes.
HIV incidence rate per 100,000 made 8.3 in 2013 (480 cases), 10.5 in 2014 (612 cases).
