Mumbai: A 38-year-old man chopped off the genitals of his 30-year-old male lover at Navghar in Bhayander (E). Ramsharan Harijan used to stay in a rented flat with the victim, Rajkumar Gurmi. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
The two work in a hook manufacturing unit in Bhayander (E). On Sunday night, Harijan and Gurmi had a fight. “After a while, Harijan tried to get physical with Gurmi, who turned him away. Harijan then grabbed a kitchen knife and chopped off Gurmi’s genitals,” said additional superintendent of police (Thane rural) Sangramsinh Nishandar. Gurmi’s screams alerted a neighbour, who took him to a local hospital. He was later shifted to Sion hospital.
Harijan was arrested and booked for attempt to murder. He was handed over to the police by the neighbours. He has been arrested under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and has been remanded to police custody for a week by the Thane sessions court.
Police said that the gay couple had been having frequent fights since the past few months. The two met at the work place and got close. It was then that they decided to stay together.
