Yerevan, Armenia: The Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Yerevan on April 24.
“Russia, Armenian and Russian leaders will meet within the framework of the visit to discuss the issues on the bilateral agenda, interaction within integration unions as well as current regional and international topics,” Russian President Office said in a statement.
There is possibility of meeting of Vladimir Putin and French leaders on the sidelines of the Genocide centennial commemoration events in Yerevan.
Sixty official delegations from different countries and international organizations will attend the Genocide centennial commemoration event in Yerevan on April 24 including Russian and French Presidents.
In a press conference held on Monday, the Chief of Staff of the Armenian President’s office Vigen Sargsyan said that the presidents of Russia, France, Cyprus and Serbia are due to visit the country later this week to join the ceremony.
“The president of Cyprus will be visiting with the parliament speaker. As for other countries’ delegations, they are coming as representatives of the given state and president. Many leaders told Armenia’s president they must be represented at the highest level as the Armenian Genocide marks the anniversary of universal memory and the crime against humanity,” he noted.
In response to the question of whether other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union are going to be present, Sargsyan said that Belarus is going to send a delegation (as Kazakhstan will be busy conducting presidential elections the same day).
